Ryo Ishikawa Wins Money List Title

December 2009

Ryo Ishikawa finished tied for 19th place at the Japan Tour's season-ending event, The Nippon Series JT Cup at Yomiuri Country Club in Tokyo. Ishikawa closed with a final round (-4) 66 at the event, and at 18 years, 2 months and 19 days old, he became the youngest winner of the Japan Golf Tour's Money List title.

Coming into The Nippon Series JT Cup, the only player that had a chance to overtake Ishikawa for the Money List title was Yuta Ikeda, who finished the tournament four shots behind Ryo at 7-over-par.

Ishikawa finished the year with earnings of 183.5 million yen ($2.08 million), 25 million yen ahead of Ikeda, who finished with earnings of 158.5 million yen ($1.8 million).

When asked about becoming the Japan Tour's youngest Money List winner, Ishikawa said, "This money title is more precious than any of the other youngest-player records that I have set. I didn't expect to be this overjoyed. My heart is filled with deep emotion, and I am deeply grateful to the fans that supported me."
